NPR’s Rise on the Fediverse

This week, NPR chose to no longer post on Twitter. We had been mirroring the @NPR and @nprpolitics Twitter accounts on press.coop, and had a surge of interest in following @NPR@press.coop, which is now the most popular account on press.coop (see table below).

After upgrading our infrastructure to address the heightened load, we updated the press.coop server software to support RSS feeds, and now mirror NPR’s news and politics to @NPR@press.coop and @nprpolitics@press.coop. We also added an easy way to follow accounts on press.coop using our Hellō Mastodon Builder.

Interesting to see what has gained in popularity on the fediverse since we last looked.
